 A native of Los Angeles, Derrick moved to Colorado in 2003 after a career in marketing and advertising representing brands such as American Honda, Mitsubishi Motors and Wells Fargo Bank. Derrick said that while he enjoyed his experience in advertising, it left him wanting spiritually. He ultimately desired to work with people as they sought to improve their lives, even if he were able to help a few, nothing could be more valuable. This led him to attend graduate school in Colorado where he acquired a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Denver Seminary. Derrick has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art from California State Dominguez Hills. Derrick is Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor in the State of Colorado. Derrick has over 15 years of experience working with adults with drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health disorder. Derrick has successfully worked in partnerships with numerous community-based organizations serving the metro area. In summary, Derrick is about people. He is a seasoned “person-centered” therapist with real-life experience and a tireless advocate for people seeking recovery and a better way of life.
