I follow a strengths-based model, believing in each person’s ability to express their potential.
I view mental health recovery as being holistic and an outgrowth of healthy personal, social and sacred connection. This approach to recovery is not limited to substance abuse or mental illness, but various types of life challenges. It is possible for people to overcome past trauma, adversity, and to find strength for the journey moving forward. I follow evidence-based practices and place an emphasis on recovery planning, as clients need to plan for their success while being prepared for the challenges ahead. I value each individual and seek to support my clients in taking the steps necessary to embark on a path of health and resilience. A four-point approach developed throughout the program emphasizes the overlap between physical, mental, social and spiritual health. In 1999 the World Health Organization proposed to insert spiritual well-being into a definition of health, with the concept to be defined as “a dynamic state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being” (WHO, 1999). These four components are supported through cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement, individual and group work. Clients learn skills that help them understand and reduce their risk for relapse, maintain healthy relationships, develop goals and achievement through counseling.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I work to help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
I provide in-person and telehealth services. Accessibility, convenience and additional privacy are just some of the reasons why some clients benefit from online therapy. Talk with me to see if online counseling is right for you.
